Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan - June 10, 2026: An ornate ground floor facade covered in mosaic, ceramic relief and sculpture faces a red brick sidewalk in Waseda-Tsurumakicho, Shinjuku. Large red ovals with white polka dots and broken red tiles fill the upper band of the wall, beside panels of painted flower tiles, striped blue and green mosaic and a round plate with a red fish. Below them, a row of sculpted ceramic faces projects from pale stone tiles. A large round window framed by an arch of colored glass and stone mosaic shows a white plinth inside, and a dark wave-patterned relief panel sits beneath it. Above the cornice, a black metal sculpture with spiky, tentacle-like forms reaches out from the corner of the building, below bay windows set in walls studded with hexagonal mosaic.
