Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan - June 11, 2026: A massive wall of precisely cut stone blocks rises beside a curving path in the Imperial Palace gardens in Chiyoda, Tokyo. The large rectangular blocks fit tightly against each other with narrow joints, and their faces show shades of gray, brown and rust. The corner on the left steps back as it rises, and the wall continues to the right toward a second section behind the path. Two women walk under white parasols in the middle of the path, while other people walk uphill toward the far end of the wall. Clipped hedges line both edges of the wide gravel-surfaced path, and pine trees and dense foliage grow above the top of the wall.
