Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan - June 8, 2026: A person in long light gray clothing walks across the paved forecourt in front of the main gate of Kanda Shrine in Soto-Kanda, Chiyoda, with one hand raised to the head. The two-story gate has vermilion pillars, a green tiled roof with upturned eaves, and gilded carvings of guardian figures along its upper beams. A plaque under the roof reads Kanda Jinja, and two large paper lanterns on either side of the entrance carry the name Kanda Myojin in black characters. A low wooden fence stands in the center of the passage, while low red fences line the sides. Through the gate, a few people walk across the open stone courtyard toward the main hall. Stone posts and a brick-paved plaza fill the foreground under an overcast sky.
