Kyoto, Japan - June 12, 2026: The curved, two-tiered roof of a traditional wooden building rises against an overcast sky in Japan. Gray ceramic tiles cover both tiers, ending in rows of round end tiles and decorated ridge ornaments at the upturned corners. Gilded carvings shine on the gable and along the dark wooden eaves, where white-tipped rafter ends form dotted lines beneath each roof edge. Small metal bells hang from the corners of the eaves. The tiled roof of a neighboring building appears in the lower left corner, and pale clouds fill the left side of the frame.
