Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan - June 11, 2026: A long traditional wooden building with a two-tiered tiled roof stands in the garden of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, with modern glass and steel office towers rising behind it. A low red wooden fence runs along the front of the building, separating it from a wide paved path in the foreground. The open front of the structure lies in deep shadow beneath the heavy eaves, and its grey clay roof tiles run in tight rows toward an upturned ridge at the right end. Tall green trees fill the space between the roofline and the high-rise buildings. The Imperial Palace grounds lie in central Tokyo, surrounded by the city's business district.
