Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan - June 11, 2026: A Suntory drink vending machine offers rows of bottled water, teas, juices and soft drinks in Chiyoda, Tokyo. Three shelves of display bottles stand behind the glass, each above a small blue label marked cold in Japanese and a round selection button. The selection includes mineral water, green tea, oolong tea, lemonade, ginger ale, Craft Boss fruit teas and a can of Red Bull. On the right side of the machine, a red panel titled How to buy a drink explains in English, Chinese and Korean how to insert coins or a 1,000 yen bill, press the button, collect the drink and push the return lever for change. A printed sheet above it tells buyers in English that a one-hour timer is set until a restocked drink cools down. Tokyo is among the cities with the most vending machines in the world.
