Waseda Tsurumakicho, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan - June 9, 2026: An ornate rounded building with a heavily sculpted white facade stands at the corner of the Wasedatsurumakicho-Nishi intersection in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Its curved floors carry rows of arched windows framed by raised relief patterns, balconies with potted plants and a drum-shaped top floor ringed with red panels. In the foreground, pale blue arrow markings painted on the asphalt curve across the empty junction toward a zebra crossing. A blue intersection sign reading Wasedatsurumakicho-Nishi hangs from a traffic light pole on the right, beside a tall brown residential tower. Further down the street, cars, a bus and a few pedestrians wait at the crossing under an overcast sky, with plain concrete apartment blocks lining both sides.
