Lviv, Ukraine - 27 August 2018: The cemetery has been classified as a historic and cultural museum and heritage preserve; it occupies a total area of 40 hectares. It was officially founded in 1786 by the new Austrian government in Lemberg (Lviv), which was then the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria.
