Taito, Tokyo, Japan - June 9, 2026: A group of drivers in costumes rides street-legal go-karts through Higashi Ueno in Tokyo's Taito ward, on a city tour offered especially to tourists as an evening activity. The karts wait in a line on the left side of the road at a red traffic light, beside taxis and other cars. Each kart carries an illuminated light box on a tall pole, and white underglow lights the asphalt beneath the vehicles. One driver wears a yellow hooded costume, another a red outfit. A street sign at the intersection reads Inaricho, and a McDonald's restaurant with a lit sign stands on the corner to the right. Apartment and office buildings with lit windows line the street in the background.
