Minato, Tokyo, Japan - June 10, 2026: A humanoid robot dressed as a station attendant follows passersby with its head from a Toei Transportation information desk in an underground station passage in Higashi Shinbashi, Tokyo. The robot wears a black uniform jacket, a striped tie, white gloves and a peaked cap, and stands behind a curved counter marked information. A small touchscreen with a gooseneck microphone sits on the counter, and a large screen behind the robot offers language buttons for Japanese, English and Chinese. Cameras are mounted on top of the booth, which is enclosed by white folding panels carrying the green Toei logo. Despite its large population, Tokyo is a very quiet city even at rush hour; most of the sounds in the city come from vending machine announcements or subway announcements.
