Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto, Japan - June 12, 2026: A bundled leaf charm with a paper tag hangs at the center of a short white noren curtain above an entrance in Higashiyama, Kyoto. The tag carries the characters for Gion Matsuri and the name En no Gyoja Yama, with red printing and small crests. The cloth curtain stretches along a dark wooden transom and shows two large black brush-painted characters, one on each side of the charm. A wall-mounted lamp lights the textured plaster above, while the doorway below stays dark behind its glass panels and slim wooden frame. Details like this curtain and charm mark many venue entrances across Kyoto, where the way inside is not always obvious at first glance.
